Our guest speaker this month is one of our members and VP of KWSA this year - Debbie Eckmier “Debbie Eckmier is a Decorative Artist and a Painting teacher who lives in Kitchener. She has been painting for 30 years and has been teaching painting classes for almost that long. Debbie will be sharing her art and her artistic journey.
After that, we are going to have a group discussion to talk about “The Ins and Outs of the Business of Art” and discussing all the “hats” we wear as artists. Everyone will go away from this meeting inspired and motivated by fellow KWSA members as we share how we do “business” in our art careers.” Her website is www.keepsakesartstudio.com KWSA Christmas Party will be held upstairs at the Button Factory Arts on Tues. Dec. 6th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Some of our KWSA members participate in a small gift of art exchange. You can bring a small painting, photograph, print or anything else you have created if you would like to take part. The idea is u give a piece of art and you will receive a piece of someone else's art. Usually, the paintings are approximately 8"x10" or less in size. The gift exchange is voluntary. The KWSA Christmas party is a pot luck party. So please bring a dish of food to share. Plates cups and utensils are provided.
A new KWSA exhibit will be opening on Dec. 1st at the Co-operator's office at 550 Parkside Dr. Waterloo. Our artwork will be on display and for sale until Feb 28th at that location. Drop in and have a visit!

This is in collaboration with the City of Waterloo for the “We are Waterloo Portrait Project”, and with the support of the Laurelwood Neighbourhood Association. According to their website, the goal for this project is “to create connections between arts, culture, community, and identity while promoting the diversity in Waterloo.” The completed artworks will be part of an exhibit in conjunction with Canada’s 150th anniversary.
