Fortunately, I’ve always lived or been near lakes at my grandparent’s cottage in Port Dover, later at our cottage in Sauble Beach and in a home backing onto the Grand River. Always partial to landscapes and water scenes, the colour blue often appears in both my watercolour and acrylic paintings. The use of texture and light along with some unusual subjects always makes my painting more enjoyable to me.
Now retired with more time for painting I have been a member of the Shoreline Artists in Southampton and currently a member of Studio 30 in Cambridge. I have taken art courses at the Dundas Valley School of Art, other places in Ontario and in England, to learn new techniques to incorporate into my paintings. Painting for me is always a pleasure, relaxing and such an honour when others find them intriguing enough to place them in their own homes. |
