Art has been Salomé’s lifelong passion. She has taken art classes in México and in Canada with established artists. Her work has been exhibited since 2004 in galleries and public spaces in Ontario.
Her artwork has developed from impressionistic to abstract styles in different media. One of her major interests is doing portraits. She likes to study this subject by portraying likeness, personality and expression.
Since 2007, she has been a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists (KWSA). There, she served as treasurer for 4 years.
In 2013, Salomé started to teach a variety of art classes to both adults and children in her home-studio, such as drawing, sculpture and mixed media.
In 2015, she helped at the Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery as teacher assistant in programs such as Art Lab and Art Explorations. For the last 5 years, she has been an artist in residence in her Laurelwood community. There, she has co-organized the Laurelwood Neighbourhood Association Art + community exhibition that took place March 2016 at the WPL John M. Harper Branch. Salome has co-ordinated and delivered art activities of “Culture Days” for four years. She has also developed and delivered the “Expressionist Portrait workshop” at WPL, John M. Harper Branch; and participated at the “We are Waterloo Portrait Project” exhibition organized by Waterloo City in 2016.
In 2017, she taught the Otomi Mixed Media Tapestry at Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery. As part of a collaboration with the Pomegranate Mural Collective in 2017, she participated in the “Welcome home” mural project” and the “Community Engagement next generation” mural.
Currently, Salomé continues exhibiting in group shows and participating in community events as the "WE ARE UNITED"-Waterloo Region(#WRUNITED). Her artwork is inspired by nature, people, ideas, emotions and animals between others.
“In my painting process, I work on the design to tell the narrative of my subjects’ observations, and ideas. Either the composition is a representational or abstract one, I am interested in the study of space, colour language and form.”
