Hello, my name is Ruchi Shankar currently living in Kitchener, ON. I mainly draw on Canvas using acrylic colors and focus on various Indian Folk Art forms. I am inspired by vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and bold designs defined in these folk arts.
The art forms which excite me the most include:
  • Gond: Gond art is a traditional folk art from India, which represents a fusion of two or more elements of nature.
  • Phad: The word ‘phad’ means ‘long scroll’, depicting how these paintings are created on long, narrow pieces of cloth or paper.
  • Pichwai: Pichwai art is a style of traditional Indian painting that originated in Rajasthan and features intricate depictions of Lord Krishna, often adorned with gold or silver accents.
  • Madhubani: Madhubani art is characterized by its intricate geometric patterns and vibrant colors depicting scenes from daily life.

In future, I am planning to continue to draw as I learn more about these art forms. Please reach out if you would like to learn and discuss these artforms. I am happy to share my knowledge.

Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. You can visit my website to see some of my artwork: https://www.ruchisartwork.com/ and feel free to reach out to me with any questions or inquiries.
