Every painting has a story to tell, and I tell my stories with my paintbrush. It's all about capturing the essence of a subject, be it a landscape with the sunshine creating magical colours in the surrounding fields, the light filtering through the trees, windswept clouds before a storm, beautiful mysterious shapes looking into the heart of a flower, a bunch of garlic drying in the sun. The subject dictates the medium I choose, and my painting style, can be representational, impressionistic, or abstraction. I enjoy the excitement of experimenting in various mixed mediums, watercolours, dye-on-silk, acrylics and printmaking. My goal is to have the excitement and passion I feel when painting, touch the hearts of my viewers. Celebrating my students' joy of accomplishment as they grow in their personal creative, artistic journey, is very inspiring and motivating for me as a painter/storyteller.
