Nahide Sen

I was born and raised in Turkey, Istanbul by a big and loving family that filled my childhood with happiness. I grew up to be a positive person, a big dreamer and of course, an art lover. My oldest sister, who’s an artist herself, strongly influenced me too.
After high school, I pursued acting classes, graduated from the University of Marmara from the Fine Arts/Textile Fashion Design program and worked for 10 years as a Fashion Designer. In 2006 my Canadian journey started, while my childhood, my family, and a piece of me remained in Turkey.
I grew up once more, this time in a new culture, while raising my kids too. I love everything here, especially the long white winters. I became a member of KWSA in 2019. I love sketching and painting, my favourites are oil paint, charcoal and acrylic paint. I usually use canvas and some fibre surfaces to paint. I would sketch woman bodies often while I was a fashion designer and that’s why so much of my art reflects that. I love being a storyteller through with my arts. I am more of an expressionist artist; I love photography and I can appreciate new techniques as well.
In 2019 during a Group Exhibition at the Homer Watson Gallery for the KWSA Juried Show, I won Jurors Choice Award,” Feeding the Rabbits”. Also, I joined several others group exhibition as KWSA member.
Currently I am a student at Conestoga College for the Interior Decorating Program.
