For many years I was a graphic designer for a Waterloo company. This involved helping with several corporate identification programs. I spent several years taking evening graphic design courses from the Ontario College of Art. I have taken classes and workshops in watercolours at the Waterloo Community Arts Centre, the Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting and the Cambridge Centre of the Arts. As well, I have taken workshops and classes from noted artists like Jack Reid, Gordon Mackenzie, Ken MacFarlane, Jake Mol, and Art Cunanan. All this learning and inspiration has motivated me to continue with the joy of painting.
Painting with watercolours is an expression of my artistic talent and the joy of creating something beautiful. Watercolours allow me to obtain the luminous colours I love. I am encouraged to continue painting because of the delight that my paintings give people. I am surrounded by so many inspiring subjects so there is much variety in my paintings: landscapes, buildings, still life, animals and flowers. I study my subject carefully and paint on location or from photos or both. My style is traditional but I look for new techniques and materials.
