Connecting Artists since 1931
Our Community
The Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists (KWSA) is a community for ALL visual artists—whether you are a professional, a student, or a dedicated hobbyist. No matter your background or discipline, you are welcome here.
Our Mission
To create an exciting and dynamic community where artists can connect, create, and play. We achieve this through regular member meetings, collaborative projects, and shows.
Our History
Almost 100 Years of Art
In June 1931, following a simple advertisement in the Kitchener Record, a group of local artists held their first meeting. From that gathering, the “Art Society of Kitchener” was born.
Today, nearly a century later, we continue that legacy as the region's longest-running arts organization, bridging the gap between solitary studio practice and a supportive creative community.
Monthly Meetings
We meet the first Wednesday of each month (often at the 44 Gaukel Creative Workspace in downtown Kitchener).
These gatherings feature guest speakers, demos, and opportunities to connect and share.
Shows & Opportunities
We actively create opportunities for our members to show their work.
From our online "Member Directory" to juried shows and community collections, we help get your art in front of the public.
Learning & Workshops
From field trips to specialized workshops, we offer low-cost ways to learn new skills.
Have an idea for an activity? We are member-driven and always open to new suggestions.
