Roy Holden
My name is Roy Holden, I am from Hertfordshire in England. I did a lot of pencil sketching as a hobby when I was very young. I passed my “O” level Art when I was 14 years old in the UK.
I started painting around 2011 as a winter hobby, but sometimes paint during the summer. I have studied books that I have bought, and learned as much as possible from magazine subscriptions, but initially I learned to paint from “YouTube”. Painting is a great hobby for me. I work in acrylics and oils. Primarily I only paint portraits, but I have done a few still life’s and a landscape. I love the old Masters work from the Renaissance and the Baroque periods. Realism, contrast and rich colours draw me to them when I am looking to buy artwork, but I prefer to use soft tones and colours when I paint portraits. |
