Projects

Projects are open to all KWSA members and have their own theme, deadlines and requirements. Please make sure that you read the details and submission requirements before submitting your work. Works must be the sole work of the respective Artist.

KWSA @ Square Peg (August 2025)

We are taking over the beautiful retail space SquarePeg that is provided by the City Kitchener at City Hall/Carl Zehr Square. This is an exciting and funded opportunity for our KWSA members! Our goal is to let everyone in Waterloo Region know about the fantastic artists that live and work here and give KWSA artists an opportunity to sell all of their artworks and crafts in a retail store setting.

We are looking for paid workers ($20/h) and unpaid volunteers to be attendants during our open hours at the retail pop-up at SquarePeg in downtown Kitchener in the month of August.

• Hours are Tuesdays to Sundays. Shifts are 3 to 4 hours and may be less.
• Training will be provided.

We are looking for a couple more artists to do a community art project,  workshop or artist demo and talk at our retail pop-up shop in downtown Kitchener in August.

• This is a paid opportunity. Artists can earn up to $150. 
• Be sure to include a preferred date and time in the month of August.
• The retail store will be open Wednesdays to Sundays. 
• Examples are: a paint-along, plein air workshop, lead a group in urban sketching, printmaking (stamps, linocut, monoprints), polymer clay sculpture, photo workshop and talk
• There is NO FEE to apply.

We are looking for artists to bring in their artwork, jewelry, cards, prints, clothing, sculpture and other creations for our retail pop-up store at SquarePeg in downtown Kitchener!

• There is an application fee of $10. KWSA will keep 10% of sales.
• We are hoping to achieve a mix of items below the $500 threshold.
• Artists will need to include a list of the inventory they are providing.
• Money from sales will be collected by KWSA using a Point-of-sale system and paid out to artists at the end of the month.
• Drop-offs are Friday August 1 and every Tuesday in August.
• You may drop off or exchange items as needed on Tuesdays.
• The selection is not juried. All items are welcome.

We are having four themed shows at our retail pop-up in downtown Kitchener. Each show will be for one week. Artist fees will be used to create a juror's prize for best in show. Drop offs will be Tuesdays for those selected starting on August 5.
Four themes: 

• Blue Notes (music and/or the colour blue in honour of the Blues Festival) - deadline August 3
• Rustic and vintage (time goes by) - deadline August 5
• Summer - deadline August 12
• Square foot - every submitted artwork must be 12X12 inches and will be on sale for $200 (this show only) - deadline August 19.
