KPL Show “The Chroma of KWSA and a Retrospective” Exhibit November 1-27, 2015 Opening Reception: Nov. 7th at 1pm during the Frederick St. Artwalk. This exhibit includes works from many of its members with a special spotlight feature on the work of Walter Ozaruk, a 30+ year member of the group. Artists at Work Debbie Eckmier and Brenda Turnour will be doing an art demo from 10 a.m. to noon Brenda Turnour - Watercolour Brenda Behan Turnour is a 4th generation artist who is actively involved with giving art workshops, entering juried shows, selling paintings and volunteering. Educated at University of Toronto & University of Caen, France, Brenda works in acrylics, watercolour, mixed media, and pen and ink. Debbie Eckmier - Mixed Media Debbie Eckmier will demonstrate Acrylic painting. Central Frederick Neighbourhood will host our Fifteenth Annual
Frederick Art Walk ! Saturday, November 7, 2015 Kitchener's ORIGINAL Art Walk Winner of the 2013 Festival of Neighbourhoods' Award for Arts and Culture Facebook link The Frederick Art Walk is a 2 km walking tour through one of Kitchener's oldest neighbourhoods. Participants can enjoy the beauty of a fall day and the pleasure of exquisite artworks, in a setting of grand maple trees and century-old homes. The tour begins in the vicinity of Frederick and Chestnut Streets. The Art Walk features an amazing array of hand-crafted works for sale, including fabric art, paintings, chocolate, photography, pottery, stained glass, sewing crafts, and jewellery. We also have rewards for "Art Walkers" via our Passport Program, and this year we are encouraging donations for Suddaby Public School's efforts to help needy students. Information for the 2015 Art Walk is posted as it becomes available. Here is the 2015 list of homes and artists for the 2015 tour. Hello Everyone!
I hope you all have been having a fantastic summer, and are ready to gear up for another KWSA year! The first meeting of the year is right around the corner! ( Tuesday Sept 1)This is the time where we pay our dues, and fill out the registration form. You can get your form ready beforehand by printing one from the email attachment, or our new website! We need some volunteers for our upcoming meeting: 2-3 for set up, 1 for snacks, and 1 to be the greeter. Please send an email to Dimitra with the position you wish to volunteer for. We have some fun things planned for this year, and many opportunities to show your art! In an effort to encourage all of our members to keep creating, this year we are going to have a raffle you can enter once every meeting you attend, to win prizes like certificates or art supplies! If anyone has news they wish to share please send us the information beforehand - this will make it easier for us to get accurate information in the minutes, and help the flow of our meetings. Do you have any theme ideas for this year’s Homer Watson House and Gallery show? Submit your them to Dimitra. We will also be announcing our Peoples Choice winner from our Button Factory Arts KWSA Members show in the spring. Two prizes will be awarded for first and second choices. Please bring in a piece of artwork you made this coming Tuesday. Perhaps something you created something over the summer. We’re going to get to know each other better and share our art next meeting for the second portion of the night. We look forward to seeing you all! The Wellington Artists Gallery, located in Fergus, is holding their annual juried exhibition of fine arts. It will include collages, drawings, paintings, ceramics fibre art, glass, jewelry, metal, sculpture, wood and photography. The opening reception and Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday October 3rd, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The exhibition runs from October 1st thru October 28th, 2015. This year’s jurors are: Richard Marvin, Jim Reed and Phil Dietrich. Marvin is an accomplished artist and graduate of the Ontario College of Art. He taught at OCA for 14 years and is a past president of the Association of Illustrators and Photographers. Reed has experience in jurying various shows, such as the annual ‘Insights’ show in Elora, Ontario. Jim studied under the mentorship of Corbett Gray as well as other influential artists. His works are in the collections of the Wellington County Museum and Archives. Dietrich is currently the museum technician at the Wellington County Museum and Archives. He is an artist, sculptor, graphic designer, carpenter, theatrical set designer, historian and writer. Phil attended the Ontario College of Art, studying sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking and bronze foundry casting. For more information, please call (519) 843-6303 'My Art Lounge' is now open. This includes crafting a message, instruction on how to create a brand, and how to deliver a successful pitch to market your art.
