Kathleen Poste

Kathleen Poste is a self taught artist who has drawn and painted all of her life. Without formal art training, she has developed her own techniques and style. As a registered nurse with over 20 years experience, she has realized that life can be fragile and sometimes short. This realization has inspired her to invigorate her dreams to be an artist.
Kathleen began to attend local Kitchener Waterloo community art classes and was encouraged by her instructors to show her work at arts shows thereafter. She has been recognized by her peers receiving numerous awards. For the past few years she has been involved with The Kitchener Waterloo Society of Artists serving as vice president and treasurer.
My current work is focused on nature and the forces of life. I like to take what I see in nature and use that to inspire my art and life. Our environment can teach us important life lessons. At this time I enjoy painting with acrylics to achieve a build-up of colourful glazes and finite textures to create depth and mood. The exploration of unique composition and the play of light and dark to create a distinct character to the canvas is important to me.
