Kathleen Bulmer
Art is a call. It receives my attention if it is inspired by truth or beauty. My response is often to represent people in their world, whether sacred or familiar or nature such as birds, animals, trees or flowers. Increasingly, I respond with layers and layers of details as the world seems to increase in complexity. The subject demands its medium, whether pencil, ink, pastel, acrylic or watercolour. Art is actualized in a loud or soft expression by colour or light and shade resulting in an infusion of emotion. It is completed when the loop between call and answer is closed and like magic or the resolution of a mystery an artistic creation appears.
