Ida Tong
After graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design University and having received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honours, I went to Florence, Italy to further my art education from 1991 to 1995. Four years of consuming arts and culture in Italy made a significant impact to my art career; I came back to Canada and started to paint relentlessly. My work has been exhibited widely in Italy and Canada, from both solo and group exhibitions. Current online publications include Toronto Art, Artist In Canada, Artists Network, LaVaLa, and International Contemporary Artists Art Book. Since 1998, while continuing to paint, I have been teaching drawing and painting to children and adults including those with Special Needs in my private art studio in Toronto. Recently, my husband and I decided to move to New Hamburg (15 minutes from Kitchener), living and enjoying a quieter life.
Having painted in oil, acrylic, and mixed media for the last thirty years, I want to create art that reflects social and political environment. At the same time, I trust that art can also be fun and playful. You are also invited to visit my website: www.idatong.weebly.com for viewing more of my work.
