Dimitra is an artist in the Waterloo Region who has experience in a wide range of artistic and craft practices. Since moving to the area in 2011, she has been involved in the art community in various and unique ways.

Since 2006, painted portraits have been a point of interest and focus within her practice. Her use of colour, line, shape and detail bleeds into her other art practices. Several commissioned portraits have been completed by her since 2009.

Dimitra achieved her Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2009 at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, and in 2010-2011 went on to attain Artist Blacksmith and Glassblowing certificates at Haliburton School of the Arts

In 2011 Dimitra began working with Two Smiths, a blacksmith/coppersmith business. The type of work she did for the next five years included but was not limited to, TIG welding, jig work, forging and design. Projects both architectural and artistic. A perfect blend of craft and art.

Dimitra teaches art classes for fundamental drawing and painting, as well as portraiture and a few craft-based workshops like bookbinding and polymer clay bead making.

The Button Factory in Waterloo, ON., (formerly known as the Waterloo Community Arts Centre), the Thames Gallery in Chatham, ON., Luther Village and Clair Hills (Retirement Homes) in Waterloo, ON. are some of the places that Dimitra has taught. Arts Abound in St.Jacobs, and her studio in Elmira, ON. are where classes are currently available.

Dimitra is a past president of the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists. A group that had and has membership of over 100 artists. An exciting challenge which offered many new and important experiences, connection with the art community as well as artistic growth.

DAMCraft Art, a reference to her name and practice, is the name Dimitra chose to represent the wide range of artistic and craft practices she maintains. Portrait painting, landscape painting, drawing, bookbinding and repair, polymer clay jewellery making, and art classes are only some of what encompasses the work which takes place in the studio.

Dimitra continues to teach classes, take commissions, exhibit her artwork.
