Graphite, coloured pencil, acrylic and mixed media
Artist Statement I enjoy painting and drawing photo-realistic images. I paint because I like capturing that perfect likeness, expression, emotion, movement, that moment when the light is just right... For many years my favourite subject was also my passion, horses. This automatically introduced me to landscapes, old buildings and barns, peeling paint and rust. I've expanded my interests to include still life, florals, other species of animals, houses and interesting doors, porches and entries. My favourite mediums are graphite, coloured pencil, acrylic and mixed media on archival 140 lb hot pressed water colour paper, archival stonehenge print making paper or Canson pastel paper. I like the intense detail and strong values I am able to achieve with these particular mediums.
