Statement
I am excited by seasonal colours and the play of light and shadow on shapes found in nature. I enjoy painting flowers and traditional landscapes. My style is more representational than abstract. To suit my interpretation of a subject I sometimes use watercolour paints or diluted acrylic paints on paper resulting in delicate or bold paintings. Other media I am exploring to interpret subjects include the use of oil and acrylic paints on canvas and the design and construction of art glass (both fused and traditional). Biography I taught Mathematics at the high school and university levels in Manitoba and Ontario for 25 years. For the next 5 years I managed an office in a local startup software firm. After retiring from teaching I found art and since then have been taking workshops with many generous local artists. My volunteer work includes serving on the Gallery Committee at WCAC for several years, on the organizing committee of the first juried show , "The Art of Cruickston" held at Homer Watson Gallery, and currently serving on the executive of KWSA. I have exhibited in many local members' and juried shows sponsored by WCAC, COAA, KWSA , and KPL and participated in group shows at the Kuntz House, the former KOR Gallery, the Elora Art Centre and the Kitchener Law Library. My paintings hang in private collections in Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia, England and California. Several of my images have appeared on commercial greeting cards in Canada and in the United States. Contact
