Jane Bayne

Biography / Statement

Jane Bayne, originally from Hamilton Ontario, has resided in Kitchener for the past 42 years. She drew as a teenager and has always been involved in an artistic vein throughout her adult life. Eleven years ago, she began her introduction to the medium of watercolour by taking a beginner’s course at Homer Watson Gallery. Jane was immediately compelled to learn every aspect and technique that this media had to offer. More recently she has studied pastels and acrylics, oils and encaustic painting.

She is a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Society of Artists (KWSA) and Waterloo Community Arts Centre (WCAC). Jane is an active member of Uptown Gallery, in The Shops in Waterloo. She has volunteered at WCAC for a number of years and enjoys participating in workshops and member shows. She has been accepted in a number of juried shows in Kitchener-Waterloo. Her work has been displayed in both libraries, Homer Watson Gallery, Your Tourism Store, KOR Gallery and Kuntz House Gallery. She has completed several well received commissions. Jane has taken workshop instruction from Vicki Brophy, Donnah Cameron, David Crow, Art Cunanan, Laura Culic, Bea Hogan, Sheila Karrow, Barry McCarthy, Ken MacFarlane, Leslie Miles, Sheila MacDonald Roberts, Alan Daniel and Laura Urquhart, just to name a few. She has studied under the expert guidance of Bert Williams for four years.
