I grew up in India, studied visual arts for my undergrad, and immigrated to Canada in the early nineties, which has been my home for almost 30 years. My life’s journey has provided ample scope for interacting with different environments, and their peoples, their flora and fauna. Wildlife - both fauna and flora - in particular birds, people and places are perennially appealing to me as subjects. All my art is inspired by these interactions and experiences such as feeding, watching and taking photographs of birds in my backyard or on the beaches and parks. During travels, cityscapes, architectures, peoples and cultures fascinate and compel me to render those rich experiences on stretched canvas in acrylics, all in my unique style. While at first glance, my work may appear realistic, I would call my style, 'realistic impressionism'! Like any developing artist, my two-fold hope is to paint, paint and paint, in order to get better at what I do, and to exhibit my work as widely as possible.
I am very excited that my first book PAINTED BIRDS has been published and is now available for purchase. Future projects include a deep dive into the human condition, and presenting a different perspective to challenge the accuracy and inherent biases in historical art. |
