Catherine Anne Jackson
Anne is an artist and arts educator, originally from Toronto, now living in Kitchener-Waterloo. Currently exploring lyrical abstraction, primarily with oil and cold wax medium, she also enjoys life drawing, and has worked with textiles and mixed media collage. For many years, Anne has studied with established artists at the Haliburton School of Art and Design (Steve Rose, John Leonard, Brian Smith, Jill Segal, amongst others), and with various artists and arts organizations in Canada and abroad. She has studied oil and cold wax medium techniques with Janice Mason Steeves (Canada) and Rebecca Crowell (US). Techniques include layering paint, colour glazing, incising, scraping away, and dissolving, to create a textured, dimensional surface that evolves in an organic, unpredictable way, into a finished piece. Colour and beauty, in the natural world, visual arts, literature, music, and dance, have always been fundamental sources of inspiration for Anne. Her work has been shown in many exhibitions and juried shows.
